The 1980s was the decade of the resurgence of the NBA’s popularity thanks to Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. From Jerry Buss buying the LA Lakers with a vision to the final game of the 1984 NBA finals, you see just how the game and league changed. Full of behind-the-scenes drama (mostly dramatized) you learn just what it took for this team to succeed (unless the Boston Celtics are in town). John C. Reilly does a great job portraying Buss and delivering the passionate performance of an amateur team owner. Jason Segal, Adrien Brody, and Jason Clarke are just some of the major actors in this series. After each episode, you can watch interviews with the actors and past players for insight and details about the events in the episodes. If you love basketball or want to learn more about its history I’d give this a go!
