A Haunting in Venice

Hercule Poirot is retired and living in Venice (sounds awful right) when his old friend and mystery writer, Liz Lemon/Mrs. Norbury (Tina Fey) stops by to ask for his help. She wants to write a book about a famous medium but wants Poirot to come to a seance with the medium to figure out if she’s the real deal. Under the guise of wanting to speak with a famous opera singer’s daughter, Michelle Yeoh (the medium) shows him just what she’s made of. Based on Hallowe’en Party by Agatha Christie, directed, produced, and starred in by Gilderoy Lockhart (Kenneth Branagh) see the third attempt at Agatha Christie’s franchise turned to cinema. I’ll be the first to admit that scary movies are not my cup of tea but this movie was really fun. Yes, there are a couple of jump scares but overall it’s nice knowing that there has to be a logical answer to all questions. I’d say in the pecking order of the previous recent films; Murder on the Orient Express is first followed by this one and last is Death on the Nile. Very fun and smart mystery, but we wouldn’t expect anything less of Agatha now would we.
