The year is 2020, and for some reason, the world is going crazy for GameStop. That’s right, the retail store that sells physical video games. Hedgefund Melvin Capital started shorting its stock, GME or GameStop, and Keith Gill, a Youtube market commentator Roaring Kitty, took notice. Put his entire savings in to buy stock of GameStop and decided to tell his following. Well, his following listened and waged war on the hedge fund. This movie was pretty fun and gave insight into something I only heard about after the fact (not super into the market so you might have known more than me). Seth Rogan plays Gabe Plotkin, the hedge fund manager and Ron Swanson/Nick Offerman plays the more cutthroat Ken Griffin. This movie follows Gill and his life a couple of college students, a frontline worker, and a GameStop employee who all decide to follow Gill’s example. If you like The Big Short and other money movies, you’ll like this one a lot!
