Based on a true story, Tommy Lee Jones is in a race against the clock (and the insurance company) to keep his funeral business. Knowing he might not win with a white lawyer, both sets of counsel were chosen based on ethnicity. In his first court movie since Just Mercy, Jamie Foxx returns to the screen as the unconventional and flashy lawyer, Willie Gary. Very smart and entertaining movie, Foxx is entertaining as a Cochran-esque lawyer and Jurnee Smollett plays a tough, competitive, female attorney representing the corporation. This movie has heart behind it and knowing that this is a real story is that much more endearing.
