Priscilla

Priscilla Presley, the only wife of Elvis, and mother to the late Lisa Marie. A lot and a little is known about her thanks to her 1985 autobiography Elvis & Me. That book helped form this latest Sophia Coppola-directed film showing her relationship with Elvis from 14 to 28. Cailee Spaeny plays Priscilla and Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth, Euphoria) plays Elvis. You can’t really compare Elordi’s portrayal to Austin Butler’s method of acting from Elvis but I think he does a good job. If you’re familiar with other Coppola movies (not her dad) you’ll know that it’ll be a little artsy and will do a good job of capturing the main protagonist’s emotions (see Marie Antoinette). The makeup and costume department did a fantastic job because, at the start of the movie, you really do believe that Spaeny (who is 25 in real life) is 14! Elordi also in certain scenes is truly uncanny to the real Elvis, especially young him. Articles have come out that Lisa Marie before her passing had asked Coppola to not make this movie because she did not like the portrayal of her dad, however, as Priscilla is an executive producer for the film I choose to think that any content is truthful/accurate. Overall I believe that this does a great job of showcasing the real Hollywood relationship told from the perspective of an isolated, lovestruck, young woman.
