Whether you’d like to admit it, you know about the British royal family. Past or present you picture someone. Well, the one often eclipsed by the celebrities and scandal is the matriarch known for her dutiful loyalty. Queen Elizabeth II, came to sit on the throne (unexpectedly) at the age of 25 and remained there until her death at the age of 96. In this award-winning Netlifx original show, watch her whole life story as it’s intertwined with major historical events to drama from her immediate family. Yes, I’m aware that the majority of the conversations are inspired by true events and not factual but I think it does her a great justice with the perspective they provide. With season one taking place in the 1940s and the last season in the 2000s, you have an elaborate cast that reflects the changes in each person. Claire Foy, Olivia Coleman, and Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge) play the queen. Overall I don’t have many complaints other than I think Dominic West, who plays Charles in the later years is way too attractive to play him. Overall, this is a fantastic historical drama and a great way to spend a rainy day inside.
