After having loyalty to the original for so long I was ready to see what the musical was all about. It follows the basic formula of the movie but with current fashion and cultural trends. I was pleasantly surprised. First off, it’s Reneé Rapp and Moana’s (Auliʻi Cravalho) show. They have the best songs and the high notes. Also, Rapp does what Rachel McAdams couldn’t which is to evoke straight-up fear. Angourie Rice (Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Last Thing He Told Me) plays Cady Heron, and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) plays Aaron Samuels. I don’t have many qualms, I like the nods to the movie and celebrity cameos throughout. If you like musicals consider making an evening out of this one!
