Under the Bridge

Trigger warning: show discusses suicide and sexual abuse, including drug abuse

Reena Virk was a 14-year-old girl in Victoria, BC who wanted to fit in. She chose to try and prove herself to a group of girls from a group home. Unfortunately, she’s found dead and instantly rumors circulate about what could have happened under the bridge the night she died. Based on the book of the same name by Rebecca Godfrey, Godfrey returned to her hometown of Victoria to figure out what happened. Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & the Six) plays Godfrey and Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) her childhood friend who is now a police officer in Victoria. I won’t sugarcoat a thing, this is a dark show. It’s creepy and sad especially since you know it’s all a true story. The book has been compared to In Cold Blood if that should give you any indication of the brutality of the crimes. This show involves the mystery of who killed Reena and what happens to those responsible, making you question whether it is just. This show is very well done and the acting is top-notch. If you’re interested I wouldn’t google anything to avoid spoilers. I wouldn’t recommend binge-watching this but it’s a good one to see if you like intense drama crime shows.
