Boys in the Boat

During the Great Depression, there wasn’t a lot to put your hope in. For the male students of the University of Washington, if you joined the Rowing Team you had a bed to sleep, three meals a day, and a part-time job. What started as a means to survive, 8 athletes found themselves bonded and in the spotlight. Based on a book with the same name and a true story, watch the JV rowing team break records and compete for their chance to go to the Olympics in Berlin. Directed by George Clooney and starring Callum Turner (Masters of the Air, Fantastic Beasts) and Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby), this was a pretty good movie. Like most biopics, there’s no way to know everything is historically accurate but it’s really fun to watch. Good pick if you’re looking for a feel-good action drama.
