What if you could watch one spot of land throughout time? Well with the help of Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Death Becomes Her), watch how a small patch of land becomes a living room throughout time. Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire, see this visually beautiful movie. Instead of the present day and the flashbacks to the past, each story arcs are woven together. Among the great cast are Forrest Gump and Jenny (Tom Hanks and Robin Wright), Paul Bettany, Michelle Dockery, Kelly Reilly, and more. It’s a wonderful take on how time and life are impactful and meaningful and how important the present is. Now…is this movie perfect? No. It’s slow and you don’t know what’s happening at first but you slowly get into the rhythm. This could have almost been a play, given how fixed the setting and shot are. Hanks and Wright have CGI’d faces which I think were pretty well done but still throw you for a loop seeing basically Tom Hanks in Big walk in the room. Good movie to watch if you’re in the mood for something slower. Not sure if I’d watch it again but I’m glad I did!
