Based on the biblical story of Ruth, watch as Tyler Perry retells the tale in modern times. Ruth (Serayah McNeill, from Empire) is an aspiring singer who feels like she’s losing herself. When tragedy strikes, she leaves everything behind to take care of Naomi (the one and only Clair Huxtable/Phylicia Rashad). She finds work at a vineyard under the leadership of Boaz (Tyler Lepley) and starts to rebuild her identity. Well, first of I’m a sucker for a Tyler Perry production so I was going to watch this whether it was good or awful. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a modern interpretation of the classic story and I think they did a good job. You don’t have to be familiar with the Bible to watch the movie. Good pick for a night in!
