Jay Kelly

Are Hollywood icons really all they’re cracked up to be? Jay Kelly, played by George Clooney, a seasoned star in Hollywood, who, while enroute to Europe, has a crisis of sorts that leads him to reflect on his career. All of the highs and lows he endured and inflicted on others to stay on top. Adam Sandler plays his long-time manager and Laura Dern his publicist. The director explained that his character is supposed to be like Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, and Robert de Niro all rolled into one. Larger than life and has a huge legacy in the public eye. It’s a pretty solemn movie as you watch Clooney wrestle with the regret of his past behavior. At first, you think you’re watching someones mid-life crisis, but it goes deeper than that, begging the question, is fame worth the sacrifice? If you enjoy human interest pieces, this is for you; otherwise, you might be bored with the slow burn.
