George Foreman, whether you know him from his famous household grilles or his boxing career, we’re talking about the same guy. Growing up in poverty in Houston, TX, Foreman figured out a way to get through life; fighting. From there his life goes up and down and through a miraculous revelation, he’s led to faith. He retired immediately, swore off boxing, and became a preacher. Many years later, through mishandling of funds by his manager, he found himself bankrupt. In order to save his church and youth community center, he gets back in the ring (literally and figuratively), catapulting himself back into fame. I was unaware of Foreman’s life and how he got to where he is today. Forest Whitaker plays his longtime coach, Doc Broadus. If you’re looking for an uplifting movie, this is a good one.
