Chris Carver (Eddie Murphy) just wants to have the perfect Christmas decor and win the local contest. However, he starts going to extra lengths when the prize is $100,000! Going into an obscure Christmas store he buys a 12 Days of Christmas display. Unbeknownst to him, he agrees to play by the rules of a outcasted elf (Jillian Bell). Now he has to outwit Bell in order to save his Christmas and his life. So this was cute, not great, but cute. Theres a lot going on family dynamic wise with the dad losing his job, the oldest figuring out where she wants to go to college and the middle son wanting to pursue music as a hobby. Tracee Ellis Ross plays Murphy’s wife and so she naturally steals the show as the understanding glue that holds them all together. This was a fun family movie night pick but not a must-see.
