If you’ve seen the last of the Hunger Games franchise, think again. Based on the book of the same title by Suzanne Collins, here is the villain origin story of President Snow. We learn that his name is Coriolanus and at the end of his senior year of school, he’s selected as one of the mentors for the 10th Hunger Games. A scholarship to the university is the prize for having the tribute that survives. Lucky for him he has Lucy Gray (Rachel Zegler, West Side Story) a spirited and outspoken folk singer. Together they do what it takes to try and survive. So just like the book, this movie is dark and violent. I think more than any of the original three. It does the book justice storyline-wise, if they included everything from the 500-page book it would be a 6-hour movie, with a runtime of two and a half hours I’m thankful they didn’t. Viola Davis plays the sadistic gamekeeper and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) plays the dean of the school. They both do a great job because they’re both terrifying and you hate them. Overall, this was a good movie, if you’re a fan of the franchise then I’d recommend seeing it.
