NASA sent men to the moon in 1969, however after the tragedy that was the Apollo 1 mission, they needed help with their PR. In comes Scarlett Johansson who plays Kelly Jones, a creative marketing executive from New York. She travels to Florida and encounters resistance from the surly, mockneck-wearing launch director, Cole Davis/Channing Tatum. But drama ensues when the government wants a staged lunar landing shot in case the mission fails. This movie is poking at the conspiracy theory that the landing was fake. There are historical accuracies along the way but the premise isn’t true. Apart from Tatum looking like Captain Kirk, this was so charming and funny. Tatum and Johansson have incredible chemistry and it was refreshing that their relationship wasn’t the movie’s focus. Really fun for all ages and a great choice for any night of the week.
