Adolescence

Warning: show contains conversations about bullying and murder

13-year-old Jamie is taken into custody for the murder of a schoolmate. Each episode shows you one hour across four days and is filmed as one continuous shot. Starting from the arrest and booking to the investigation, court-ordered therapy, and the impact on the family. Seeing how panic and grief play out in real-time is like watching four acts of a play. This was one of those shows that will stay with you for a while. Reviews had been saying it was an almost perfect Rotten Tomato score and I love a limited series, so I had to give it a try. It’s disturbing but it gives you a real look at how kids are being shaped by harmful content and how isolating technology can make a kid feel. It won’t be a show that I rewatch but if you can sit through it I think it’s important.
