A House of Dynamite

Radars detect a nuclear missile is headed towards the US and will make impact in 18 minutes. This news works its way from the radar analysts to the situation room to the Secretary of Defense to the President. They have precious time to try and destroy the missile and decide on countermeasures if they don’t. Set in modern-day America, you’re faced with asking yourself, what would you do, how would you react, and what’s the “right thing” to do? This movie had my full attention. I was locked in the whole time, unable to look away because it felt like I was in every situation room, dying to know what would happen. This is just a testament to director Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker, Point Break) and her ability to capture the intensity that stressful situations evoke. The cast is the definition of “anyone who’s anyone” is in this movie. Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Anthony Ramos, Jared Harris, Greta Lee, the list goes on and on, and the casting director should get an award. As this is a no-spoiler blog, I will finish by saying, watch it, have a nice anxiety attack, and then let me know your thoughts because I have many.
