Wicked: For Good

Time for the epic conclusion of the first act of Wicked. Exiled from Oz, Elphaba is a vigilante against all things Wizard. On the other end, you have Glinda, who’s living in Emerald City and is a beacon of good. When a campaign of hate comes to a boiling point, Glinda and Elphaba must figure out how to change things for good (had to say it). Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo bring it home in power ballads that need to be seen in a theater. This is a darker move than the first movie, so if you’re unfamiliar with the musical, set your expectations accordingly. The first movie is hard to beat, so this one does fall in rating for me, but it was fun. There’s plenty of scrutiny for how they did things differently from the theater production but isn’t that the point of a movie adaptation? To test the limits? If musicals are your thing, I would go see this; otherwise, there’s nothing wrong with waiting until it streams.
