I Love Lucy, perhaps you’ve heard of it. Despite the entire show being in black and white, you get to see the lives of Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem) and Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman) in full color. The movie shows the complicated relationship of Arnaz and Ball and takes you behind the scenes of the making of ILL during a stressful week in 1952. Lucy Arnez, the daughter of Arnaz and Ball, gave her blessing to the film and praised director Aaron Sorkin.
“He captured the heart of my mother and my father, their relationship. He captured the love between those players in the I Love Lucy show. The tension that was brought on in this particular week when all hell broke loose.”
Lucy Arnaz
If you loved the show growing up, this will make you happy. Both actors do a phenomenal job and this was a fresh look at two Hollywood icons of the 1950s.
