Warning: this season discusses sexual assault/abuse
If you’re like me you watched season 1 of Cheer in lockdown and loved it. You saw Coach Monica on Dancing With The Stars and rooted for her. Then Jerry Harris is arrested for possession of child pornography. You question the show that you loved because how could something like that happen when there were so many cameras around.
Season 2 tackles the competition season from 2020 to 2021. It talks about the allegations and allows the survivors to speak their peace. You’re introduced to the Trinity Valley team and get to journey with them as they prepare for Daytona too. At Navarro, you see how fame affected some and how they get along as a team with a select few in the spotlight. Covid disrupted the world, you get to see how that affected each college. In the end, I wasn’t sure who I wanted to win.
If you end up watching it, you’ll no doubt binge it in a couple days.
