Luckiest Girl Alive

Trigger warning: movie contains scenes of rape and a school shooting

Mila Kunis and a movie based on a book, that’s all I thought going into this one. Well, buckle up because it’s a much more serious and gut-wrenching movie than expected. Ani Fanelli is just trying to upgrade her career and marry her dream guy without any care in the world. It’s not that easy as a documentary director is trying to interview her about the school shooting that she lived through, and is blamed for?! Based on the book by Jessica Knoll, Ani goes back and forth on if she can finally tell her side of the story or not. Be fair warned, this is not an open-shut case and it’s hard to watch but the overall message of the movie is powerful. All stories deserve to be told.
