Ronald Reagan, a Hollywood star who became the 40th president of the United States, but how? The whole movie is told from the perspective of Viktor Petrovich, who explains how the US defeated the Soviet Union. Based on the book The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism; by Paul Kengor, Dennis Quaid (The Parent Trap, Day After Tomorrow) plays Reagan, Penelope Ann Miller (Kindergarten Cop) plays Nancy and Jon Voight plays Petrovich. First of all, the de-aging done by CGI to Quiad and Voight is just awful, you can barely get past it because it’s just so bad. However, I do appreciate an actor who does his homework because Quaid embodied the mannerisms of the late president very well both in speech and demeanor. Is this movie on the same level or caliber as other presidential biopics? No, but it’s a sweet way to honor the memory and accomplishments of this admired president.
