Santa’s been kidnapped the day before Christmas by a mythical villain, and it’s up to the head E.L.F (The Rock) and an international tracker (Captain America) to help find him. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Chris Evans are an unlikely pairing but I think it works! Both have great deadpan humor which translates well to on-screen chemistry. As far as Christmas action movies go, this was cute. Their take on the North Pole and how it operates was original and how they figured out where he was was clever. I haven’t seen a movie like this before but by far the most unrealistic thing was that Santa (J.K. Simmons) was ripped and had a gym. There are other favorites like Bonnie Hunt, Lucy Liu, and Kiernan Shipka amongst the cast. I recommend this for a fun movie night with friends or a date night. There’s a little language but overall this is kid-friendly!
