The dinosaurs still aren’t extinct! Mr. Wickham from Pride and Prejudice (Rupert Friend) enlists the help of Scarlett Johansson to go to an island of mutant-misfit dinosaurs to save science. There’s more to it, but I’ll leave you in suspense so you can see it for yourself. She gets her team of Mahershala Ali, Johnathan Bailey, one of the pilots from Midway (Ed Skrein), and Luna Blaise, and they set sail for the risky mission. I thought this was a pretty middle-tier addition to the franchise. It has all you could want from a Jurassic Park movie: comedy and jump scares, and an attractive scientist. All of the principal actors carry their weight of action and humor; unfortunately, after starting off promising, the plot ultimately disappointed me. Don’t get me wrong, I was entertained, and it’s not like I went in looking for the most original ideas (hello, it’s the eighth movie in this franchise). I just felt it was really predictable, and for that, I was let down. Still, everything you could want in a dinosaur movie, so if you need a little thrill, definitely go watch this!
