The Odyssey

For the fourth time on the big screen, Matt Damon just wants to go home. (For those of you lost, please go watch Saving Private Ryan, The Martian, and Interstellar.) Based on Homer’s novel of the same name, famed war hero Odysseus goes on what feels like a never-ending journey back home. While his wife and son desperately try and keep faith and the throne from threat. Christopher Nolan has a cast of titans, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, and so many more. Edward Cullen (Pattinson) is the main villain trying to get the throne in Odysseus’ absence and is a fantastic bad guy. A quick note about Nolan, this man didn’t just film the movie in three-minute increments so it could be the first movie ever with exclusively IMAX cameras, he built Viking ships instead of CGI, made the cast learn how to sail, and picked locations that were a 45-minute hike every day. I like many of you was forced to read this in high school, remembering some names and elements but not much. I thought it was incredible. It’s a movie of epic proportions, very violent, highly imaginative, and beautifully done. For those who thought Oppenheimer was Nolan’s magnum opus, take a lap. Not one to miss if you don’t mind violence!
