Sand, that’s all I knew about this movie going in. A lot of sand, it’s based on a book and stars Timmy Chalamet. The premise is essentially about one thing, survival. One planet (Zendaya’s) is the sole provider of spice but different nations want to be the sole harvester. Amidst tragedy, Tim Tim searches for Zendaya (whom he’s only seen in his dreams,) hoping she will help him and his people survive. There are prophecies and futuristic weapons, and the score is straight fire. Have to give it to both the casting director and cinematographer, for this movie is both beautiful in scenery and in people. It’s a very slow build and ends in just under 3 hours. All in all, it’s worth hunkering down on the couch for. However, if you don’t like fantasy/science fiction content or can’t sit through Lord of the Rings, this movie won’t be for you.
Based off on the book series by Frank Herbert and a remake of the 1984 movie of the same title.
Dune: Part 2 has been confirmed for Oct 2023.
