Don’t you hate when someone doesn’t want to be your friend anymore. On the remote island off the shores of Ireland in the 1920s, two best friends are at odds but only one knows why. Collin Farrell plays the dumped friend and it’s entertaining to watch him try and win his friend (Mad-Eye Moody from HP, Brendan Gleeson) back. Taking place during the time of the Irish War of Independence, a small town becomes obsessed with a friendship ending and other gossip instead of focusing on the conflict just across the water. It’s funny and is written almost like a play, which checks out because the writer/director is a playwright. It’s an off-beat, slower drama but the dialogue is hysterical. Reminds me of LOTR banter and not just because of the accents. Already been nominated for a few things and I can see why. Very entertaining and kinda delightful.
